Put the files in the top folder of your website, next to your home page.

Your privacy: everything is drawn in your browser. Your letters and images are not uploaded to Almulx or anywhere else.

How to add a favicon to your website

  1. Design your icon above and press Download ZIP.
  2. Unzip it and put the files in the top folder of your website, next to your home page.
  3. Paste the HTML snippet inside the head of your pages.
  4. Open your website in a private window. Browsers remember favicons for a long time, so a normal window may keep showing the old one for a while.

On WordPress you do not need the snippet: upload a square image under the Site Icon setting in WP Admin and WordPress makes its own sizes.

What makes a good favicon

  • One or two letters, or one simple shape. At 16 pixels there is no room for a whole logo or a name.
  • Strong contrast. Tabs can be light or dark, so check both previews.
  • A square source image. Other shapes are fitted inside the square or cropped to fill it.

Questions

Is the favicon generator free?

Yes. There is no account and no watermark, and the files are yours to use on any website.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything is drawn and packed in your browser. Your letters and images are not sent to Almulx or anywhere else.

What is in the ZIP?

A favicon.ico holding 16, 32 and 48 pixel versions, PNG files at 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512 pixels, and a site.webmanifest. The 180 pixel file is the Apple touch icon. It always has a solid background, because iPhones show transparent parts as black.

Why does the emoji look different on other devices?

Each system draws emoji its own way, and this tool uses the one on your device. The downloaded files are pictures, so visitors see the version you made, on any device.
