What a restaurant website needs: a checklist
What diners look for before they visit: menu, hours, location, booking and photos. Keep it short, current and easy on a phone.

Most people look at a restaurant's website on their phone, often while deciding where to eat right now. They want four answers fast: what you serve, when you are open, where you are and how to get a table.
The essentials
- Menu as text on the page, not only a PDF. Text loads faster and reads well on a phone.
- Opening hours, including holidays and kitchen closing time.
- Address with a map link and a line on parking or public transport.
- Phone number that can be tapped to call.
- How to book: by phone, online or walk-ins only. Say it plainly.
Photos that make people come in
- Your real dishes, in natural light.
- The room, so people know what to expect.
- Skip stock photos; diners can tell.
Keep the menu current
An out-of-date menu or price is one of the most common complaints. If your dishes or prices change often, list the dishes with a short description and keep prices on the menu in the restaurant, or update them every time they change.
Small things that matter
- Dietary information (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free options) if you offer them.
- Whether you do takeaway or delivery, and how to order.
- Private events or group bookings, with a contact.
- Your name, address and phone exactly the same as on your Google profile.
